Have you always wondered how a company becomes certified to work on your Apple products? It isn’t as simple as making the claim. In fact, interested organizations must complete several steps before even being considered.
Types of Providers
Apple partners with two types of service providers: authorized providers and limited service providers. Authorized providers have contracts that allow them to repair all types of Apple products. Limited service providers have agreements that only allow the companies or organizations to service specific products, which are clearly defined in the agreement.
Requirements to Become a Partner
A company or organization must meet several requirements to become an Apple Premier Partner, including having been in operation for a reasonable amount of time and allowing Apple to review its audited financial records. The company must have a brick and mortar location and employ Apple Certified Macintosh Technicians. Finally, the company must actively promote the Apple brand.
Benefits of Becoming a Provider
Operating a business as an Apple Service Center is beneficial for several reasons. Perhaps most importantly, being in partnership with a company worth an estimated $750 billion instills confidence in customers. Additionally, partnered organizations are listed in Apple’s resource locator system and have access to training, manuals and parts that other companies don’t have access to. Other benefits include reimbursement for labor, parts and any travel done to repair Apple products under the Apple Limited Warranty of extended agreement.
How to Get Started
Before applying to be part of the AppleCare team, the business owner needs to ensure his or her business fits the above requirements. At least one employee must pass Apple’s hardware exam and software exam at an authorized testing center. Apple requires interested parties to contact their local team to learn more about the specifics.
